Temporary Coverage

bullet

Between jobs and not willing to pay the high price of COBRA?

bullet

A recent college graduate or dependent who is no longer covered under your parent's plan?

bullet

Not eligible for a new employer's plan until you satisfy a waiting period?

bullet

A part-time, temporary or seasonal employee who is temporarily without coverage?

 Here are the guidelines:

bullet

Up to a 75% cost savings over traditional insurance.

bullet

You can be covered for up to 6 months.

bullet

Short application and approval process.

Options:

We've researched and are willing to recommend three carriers.  Each has its benefits:

1)  Fortis:  These guys are the leaders.  They have a short application process and cover just about everyone.  There is no coverage for pre-existing conditions.   Choice of deductibles and copays.   Depending up what option you choose, they pay 50%, 80%, or 100% after you meet the deductible.  After you pay $5000 in expenses, they pay for everything at 100%.  You can apply right on line -- right now!  Go to this link http://www.stminsurance.com Where is asks for the agent number - key in 000793BJ000001.  You will be notified immediately whether or not you have been approved.  If you are approved, you'll receive a policy in the mail within a couple of days.

2)  Medical Mutual:  These guys take you through full underwriting and you fill out a regular health application (not really a big deal).  For this reason, they will pay for pre-existing conditions if you are going directly from one health plan to another or do not have more than a 63 day lag without coverage.  They have a $500 deductible, $15 co pay per office visit and an out of pocket maximum of $2,000 per person or $4,000 for the family.

3) Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield:  Anthem has a short application process and abbreviated underwriting.  They do not cover pre-existing conditions.  Anthem offers a choice of deductibles from $250 - $2500.  Their coverage is virtually identical to the Fortis 80/20  plan.

Who shouldn't get temporary coverage:

Only get temporary coverage if you are certain that you are going onto a plan that guarantee's your enrollment regardless of health.  An example of this would be a group plan, Medicaid or Medicare.  We make this recommendation because your health may change any time.

Insurance companies can decline coverage for individuals.  If you go to purchase an individual policy at the end of your six month limit on the temporary plan, you may be declined if you have serious pre-existing conditions.
